Town Council

Going forward, to be consistent with current policy in Town buildings including Town Hall, Mayor Michael Ludwick and Minority Leader Cynthia Mangini have adopted, on an emergency basis, a policy pursuant to rules and procedures of the Enfield Town Council, stating that masks must be worn by EVERYONE at Town Council meetings. Masks may only be removed while speaking. The policy will be stated at the beginning of the meeting. 

 Enfield’s Regional Farmer’s Market

The Enfield Regional Farmer Market vendors will be on the Town Green this Saturday October 3 from 10-4. The Regional Farmer’s Market will resume on Sunday October 11, from 10-1 on the Town Green. Please join us to buy some fresh produce, delicious sweets, and handmade craft items. The market will continue to run on Sundays through October 25. Hope to see you there!   

 Absentee Ballot Box

Enfield has received 2 additional ballot drop box locations for the November election. Residents may now use the drop boxes at the locations listed below:

  • Outside drive-thru lane of the Enfield Express, located at 800 Enfield Street. Drive up without leaving your car.
  • Central Library, located at 104 Middle Road. The drop box is located right past the book drops.
  • Town Hall back entrance, located at 820 Enfield Street, back parking lot.
  • Absentee ballots are being mailed out the first week of October.

 Department of Public Works

Leaf bags are now available for purchase at the Enfield Express drive-thru window. The cost for a bundle of 5 leaf bags is $2. Cash only.

 Senior Center  

The Senior Center will be opening to the public on a limited basis on October 5. They will be having several fitness classes, arts and crafts, and other assorted programs to offer participants. Please call the Senior Center at 860-830-7278 or email us at enfieldseniors@enfield.org for information on programs and registration information.

 You may also continue to join the Senior Center for ongoing programs. Virtual Coffee Hour is every Thursday at 9:30. Take It and Make It is available weekly, where seniors can pick up a craft kit curbside and assemble it at home. Call 860-763-7425 to obtain your craft kit. Ask the CPA program is back! If you have questions or concerns about your taxes, investments, annuities, or retirement, give Jack Welch a call at 860-741-3717 to make an appointment. Ask the Realtor is Wednesday, October 7. Shirleen Peabody will be available for private telephone consultations.

 Department of Social Services

Beginning on Wednesday, November 4, the Enfield Magic Carpet will resume fare collection for all passenger trips.  Bus passes will only be sold by appointment only at the Enfield Transit Office located at 110 High Street, between the hours of 9am – 3pm.  Passengers also have the option to pay with exact change at time of boarding.   1 adult ride is $1.30, 1 senior/disabled ride is $1.05, and youth are free.  For more information, please visit our website at www.enfield-ct.gov/143/Magic-Carpet-Bus , The Magic Carpet Facebook Page or call us at 860-272-3545.

 Recreation  

The Recreation Division continues to have a variety of virtual Take it and Make it and in person programs this fall.  In addition, Recreation will be hosting Adult Yoga on Tuesdays in October, from 6:15 to 7:30 PM at the Enfield Annex. Students will be able to work at their own level, modifying poses as needed. Join Recreation and Jonathan Metcalf at Integrity Martial Arts for a Women’s Self Defense Class to learn simple strategies to minimize risk, tactics to get you to safety quickly, the psychology behind most violence and how to avert it and the fundamentals of striking and escaping. Please note that mature topics will be covered in this class. The course will be held on October 19 & 26, 7– 9 PM at Integrity Martial Arts Studio. This is a free program, but spaces are limited, and pre-registration is required.
