Enfield’s Regional Farmer’s Market

This Sunday, October 25th, from 10-1, will be the last day of the outdoor Enfield Regional Farmer’s Market. Please join us to buy some fresh produce, delicious sweets, and handmade craft items. Hope to see you there!  

 

Election 2020

The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is November 2nd. The ballot MUST BE RETURNED to the Town Clerk's Office by 8 PM on Election Night, November 3rd. 

 

Residents may use the drop boxes at the locations listed below to deposit their ballot or absentee ballot application:

  • Outside drive-thru lane of the Enfield Express, located at 800 Enfield Street. 

  • Central Public Library located at 104 Middle Road. The drop box is located past the book drops.

  • Town Hall back entrance, located at 820 Enfield Street, back parking lot.

     

    Department of Public Works

     

    The Town of Enfield will begin leaf and yard waste collection in November. From November 2 through November 27, brown leaf bags and brown yard waste tippers containing ONLY LEAVES will be collected each week. If your normal trash pickup day is:

  • Monday -  brown leaf bags and brown yard waste tippers containing ONLY LEAVES  will be collected November 2-6

  • Tuesday - brown leaf bags and brown yard waste tippers containing ONLY LEAVES  will be collected November 9-13

  • Wednesday - brown leaf bags and brown yard waste tippers containing ONLY LEAVES  will be collected November 16-20

  • Thursday - brown leaf bags and brown yard waste tippers containing ONLY LEAVES  will be collected November 23-27

     

    Please place your brown leaf bags and/or brown yard waste tippers containing only leaves at the curb by 6AM on Monday of your areas designated week.  Up to 40 brown bags of leaves are accepted (no other containers may be used). If time permits during your collection week, we will attempt to make a second run through the area. Any leaf bags not at curbside during the designated pickup time will need to be brought to the Transfer Station for disposal at no charge.

     

    Leaf bags continue to be available for purchase at the Enfield Express drive-thru window. The cost for a bundle of 5 leaf bags is $2. Cash only.

     

    In addition to the leaf collection program, the regular Friday brown yard waste tipper barrels (NO LEAF BAGS) containing all yard waste will also be picked up on the following Fridays for ALL town residents:

  • November 6

  • November 20

  • December 4

    (Note: there is no pickup on Friday, November 13 or Friday, November 27, but there WILL be a pickup on Saturday, Nov. 14). Please have tipper barrels out at curbside by 6 am.

     

    Senior Center  

     

    The Senior Center will have registration for November Classes. A complete list of Fitness, Arts and Crafts, Computer, and other programs can be found on the Website, Facebook, weekly E-mail blasts or you may pick up a paper at the Senior Center. 

     

  • Billiards: Tables will be available for two-hour blocks from 8 AM – 3:45 PM. You must pre-register and only two players are allowed per table. 

  • Prime Fitness: Participants may register for 50-minute blocks by calling 860-272-3554. Reservations can be made on Fridays from 9:30 AM -11:30 AM for the following week.

  • WII Bowling:  WII Bowling will be held on Thursdays from 12 PM - 3:45 PM. Only 4 bowlers will be allowed at a time. 

  • Pedi-Care: Pedi-Care will be available on November 13, 8:30 AM -3:30 PM. Please call Gladys at 860-749-0617 for an appointment.

  • Pumpkin Decorating Contest: October 26th is National Pumpkin Day. In recognition of this day, we are having a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The Friends of the Enfield Senior Center have generously donated 20 pumpkins. Please call the center at 960-763-7425 to pick up a pumpkin, while supplies last. Contestants can provide their own pumpkin to decorate if they wish but it must be a smaller sized pumpkin. The pumpkin may be carved, painted or decorated. The winners will receive a prize that is yet to be determined. Pumpkins will be displayed on October 26 as part of our Halloween drive through event. 

  • Halloween Drive Through: On October 26 from 1:30 – 3:30, the Center will be having a drive through Halloween celebration. Drive through the front of the Senior Center and receive a goody. Come dressed in costume and get an extra treat. 

  • Free Diabetes Education Classes:  Do you have diabetes and want to improve your blood sugar control? Register for upcoming virtual classes offered by your Big Y Pharmacist! For more information and to sign-up, contact Donna Dwarska at 413-504-4491 or dwarska@bigy.com.

    The Senior Center will be hosting several in-person fitness classes beginning in November. The offerings will include Chair and Standing Yoga, Beginner Line Dancing, Line Dancing to Different Rhythms, Yoga, Body 360, People on Weights (POW!), Simply Stretch, and Stability Ball Training. Please contact the Senior Center to sign up as class size is limited due to social distance guidelines and slots are awarded on a first come first served basis. 

     

    In addition, Arts and Crafts and Technology in-person classes will also be offered, which will include Paint Party, Sew It's Tuesday, Craft Workshops, Creative Stitches, Computer Classes, Card Making, Ceramics, and Gift Shop Crafters. For those who wish to continue virtual programming, there are several virtual fitness and arts & crafts classes offered throughout the month.     Recreation

     

    The Recreation Division has a variety of virtual Take it and Make it and in-person programs this fall. Our next bi-weekly newsletter will be online beginning November 2nd. Additional new programming will be featured in the next issue. Registration for the in-person programming available below is open online. ALL PROGRAMS REQUIRE PRE-REGISTRATION.   • Spooky Eats Halloween Event: Join ShopRite Dietitian Michelle Mattia to create a festive and creepy edible craft and learn about healthy Halloween treats. This program will be held on October 31st, 11 AM – 12 PM at the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center Outdoor Classroom.  This program is free and open to Enfield residents. 

  • Family-Friendly Kitchen Hacks: This workshop focuses on creating meals and routines that are time, budget and family friendly. It will be held on Wednesday, November 4th, 6 – 7 PM in the Enfield Annex Auditorium. This program is free and open to Enfield residents.  

  • Adult Yoga, Session Two: Yoga will bring balance, breath awareness, stamina and flexibility to the body and mind. Participants will be able to work at their own level, modifying poses as needed. Classes will be held on November 10 – December 1, 6:15 – 7:30 PM in the Enfield Annex Gym.  Fee is $18.00 residents / $22.50 non-residents.  

  • Self Defense for Older Adults: This program is designed for physically capable adults 50 and over who want a better way to stay safe. Held on Thursday, November 12, 6 – 7:30 PM at Integrity Martial Arts Studio. This program is free and spaces are limited.

  • Pickleball Pack Rentals: The Veteran’s Memorial Athletic Complex on South Road in Enfield is home to six brand new Pickleball courts. Enfield residents can try playing the game of Pickleball at no cost! Recreation is offering rentals of our Pickleball Packs for FREE during the month of October ($10 refundable deposit required).  

  • 3D Foam Haunted House Class:  Enfield youth in grades 3-5 are invited to join on October 28 at 2:30 PM to create a spooky haunted house via Zoom. Class materials must be picked up at the Recreation Office. Please call to make a pick-up appointment AFTER you have registered. Additional materials may be needed. Participants must have internet access and be available to participate during the live stream class. This program is free and only open to Enfield residents. Spaces are limited.

  • 3D Foam Thanksgiving Mayflower Ship Class:  Enfield youth in grades 3-5 are invited to join us on November 3 at 2:30 PM to create a replica of the Mayflower via Zoom. Class materials must be picked up at the Recreation Office. Please call to make a pick up appointment AFTER you have registered. Additional materials may be needed. Participants must have internet access and be available to participate during the live stream class. This program is free and only open to Enfield residents. Spaces are limited.

 

The Cooped-Up Crafts Cart is out and about this October!  Stop by and pick up a (FREE) activity or two for your child!  Upcoming dates include.

 

  • Saturday, October 31, 10:30 - 11:30 AM at the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center

 

Our Virtual Recreation Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and contains a variety of free resources for you to use from the comfort and safety of your own home. We have over 50 different offerings. Check back for additional resources being added! 

 

Department of Social Services

 

Beginning on Wednesday, November 4, the Enfield Magic Carpet will resume fare collection for all passenger trips. Bus passes will only be sold by appointment only at the Enfield Transit Office located at 110 High Street, between the hours of 9am – 3pm.
