[ARCHIVED] Community Update from Town Manager Christopher Bromson 1/15/2021

Library

We are happy to announce that Building and Grounds has just installed an outdoor shelter near the book drops for curbside pickup. The covered shelter will allow us to put items out for pickup even in the rain and snow. The purchase of this shelter was made possible through the Everybody Learns grant we received from the State.

Join the Library on January 26 at 6:30 PM for Maximizing Space in the Garden:  Creating More of a Good Thing with Tovah Martin, who uses her garden Furthermore as an example, as she describes how to create layers in varied habitats including the perennial, berry, and vegetable gardens. You can expect to hear many innovative ideas beyond the usual solutions. Email lsprague@enfield.org for an invitation to the Zoom presentation.

Social Services

Enfield Child Development Center (ECDC) continues to operate with reduced hours of 8 AM – 4 PM to ensure safety while remaining in cohorts. During our annual holiday shutdown, the custodial staff were able to wax all floors and they came out fantastic!  Since ECDC is unable to have the annual talent show this May which in previous years filled the EHS auditorium, ECDC is offering a contactless, on-line MCM fundraising opportunity for families and friends. Please see link for information: https://my.mcmfundraising.com/2021-spring-enfield-child-dev-center/enfield-cdc

Community Gardens

In November, the Town Council voted to expand the Community Gardens in Town by adding 3 new locations! The 200 garden plots spread throughout the community gardens are located at:

  • North Main Street
  • Chapel Street
  • Enfield Public Library
  • Lafayette Park
  • Green Manor Park
  • Enfield Memorial Park – former Thomas G. Alcorn School

Please contact 860-253-6385 to reserve your garden plot today!

Help Us Plan Enfield’s Future

The Town of Enfield and the Planning and Zoning Commission have started the comprehensive planning process to update the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD).The POCD is a strategic plan that will guide land use, development, and decision making for the next 10 years. As part of the planning process, we are seeking input from the community to inform our effort and the Plan. This Community Survey offers you an opportunity to provide your thoughts and perspectives on Enfield today and the Enfield you want to be part of in the future.

The survey only takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete—time well spent to participate in the planning of Enfield’s future. We thank you for your interest in our community and taking the time to inform the Town’s planning process.
