News Release for the Week of December 22, 2014

It has been very busy at the Enfield Senior Center with our December activities. Things tend to slow down a little now for a week. Please know that although our hours are abbreviated, we are still here. Stop in. We would love to see you. January offers a full month of activity and classes. Pick up a newsletter or find us online.

The Enfield Senior Center Holiday Hours are as follows: December 23 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., No Bingo, December 24 – 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., December 25 – Closed, December 26 – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (no meals are served on December 26), December 29 – 31 – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., January 1 - Closed. The regular Senior Center hours resume on Friday, January 2.

If you have not been to the Enfield Senior Center, it might be a good thing to put on your list for 2015. There are so many activities, services, trips, and events going on. On Tuesday, January 13 at 10 a.m. we will offer “Welcome to Enfield Senior Center” including a tour and the answers to all of your questions about the Senior Center. You do not have to register, just meet in the Senior Center Library.

John Banker and his band have created a new show. He is always a great entertainer when he plays with Island Rhythms, Riverboat Ramblers and other groups. The new show is called The Ultimate 60s Dance Party and it will be held on Friday, January 16 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person and includes dessert and coffee.

Tax-Aide will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning in February at the Senior Center. IRS-trained volunteers complete Federal and State income tax returns at no charge for those 60 and older. Call the Senior Center office for an appointment starting January 2.

In March, the UCONN Lady Huskies Basketball team will be playing in the AAC Women’s Basketball Quarterfinals Championship Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena. We have a limited amount of tickets to sell for this exciting event. The $83 ticket price includes: Roundtrip Motor Coach to and from the Enfield Senior Center, Mohegan Sun Bonus Package, Reserved Lower Level Seats for the 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. games, Escort, and all Gratuities. All ticket sales are final and no refunds will be given, even if UCONN is eliminated from the Tournament. Don’t wait to register for this trip, only 25 seats will be sold.

SEMINARS
• Shen Yun Show and Traditional Culture – Wednesday, January 7 at 1 p.m. This is a talk about the upcoming show in Connecticut.
• Life in Enfield a Century Ago – Wednesday, January 14 at 1 p.m.

2014 TRIPS
Trip flyers are available on our website at www.enfield-ct.gov/seniors or can be picked up at the Senior Center.

Day Trips
Day trips are available for sale on or after the trip sign-up date.
• AAC Women’s Basketball Tournament, Saturday, March 7, 2015. Cost: $83 pp. Reservations on sale now. Only 25 seats available.
• Newport Playhouse – “When The Cat Gets Away,” Thursday, March 26, 2015. Cost: $106 pp. Sign up date: Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10 a.m.

Multi-Day Adventures
Reservations are being accepted for multi-day adventures.
• Washington DC Cherry Blossom Special, April 10 – 13, 2015. Cost: $652 pp/dbl.
• Sunny Portugal, October 15 – 25, 2015. Cost: $2999 pp/double.
