News Release for the Week of February 16, 2015

Enfield is fortunate to have caring volunteers delivering Meals-on-Wheels to older adults in the community who have difficulty preparing their own meal. With your help, we would like to add another service for those who receive Meals-on-Wheels and also have pets. We have a collection bin for pet food in the lobby. Your donations would be delivered to Meals-on-Wheels clients with pets. Consider making a pet food donation to AniMeals-on-Wheels.

Stop in on Thursday, February 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. to have any technology question answered. A few Fermi National Honor Society students will be on hand in the Technology Center to help with Facebook, iPad, iPhone or Android questions. These young folks really know technology and have a lot of patience. Bring your devices or use one of ours.

The Enfield Senior Center will host a free movie screening on Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m. The movie, “The Age of Love” follows the humorous and poignant adventures of thirty seniors who sign up for a first-of-its-kind speed dating event exclusively for 70 to 90 year olds. These typically overlooked seniors are spurred to confront the realities of physical appearance, romance, and loneliness, loss and new beginnings. The film takes viewers where no documentary has gone before – directly into the lives of older singles who still yearn to be seen and understood, who still desire another’s touch, who still seek a new chance at love. After the movie, there will be a discussion led by AARP CT State Director Nora Duncan about the issues the movie addresses. Free tickets are available in the Senior Center office.

A speed dating event is scheduled for Thursday, April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. See the film and then give us a call to register. You must be 65 or older to be a part of this exciting first-of-its-kind event at the Enfield Senior Center.
